I'm Sumaiya, a product designer who aims to design simple, usable, and beautiful solutions.
MY EXPERIENCE
I started my career when I graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Digital Enterprise Management. Here, I crafted a speciality in merging both business objectives with user needs in design, and helped early stage startups bring their vision to life by guiding them through the research and design process.
For the last three years, I have been with Compass Digital, where I design for various digital dining products that have a large impact on the restaurant industry in North America. During this time, I also earned a UX certification from the Nielsen Norman Group, where I strengthened my research-based design knowledge and practice.
MY INTERESTS
My passion for design and people go beyond the screen, and I believe it can have a positive global impact. I am always looking for opportunity to make a meaningful difference. Recently, I taught a Design Thinking camp at Code.X to students in globally marginalized communities, where I was able to provide guidance and mentorship. This further fuelled my desire to create lasting and positive change. My other design interests include education, healthcare, and social impact.
When I'm not designing, you can find me playing chess, exploring nature, or trying out a new recipe.
